A Brutalist Bronze Bull by sculptor Franz Fisher.

Born to Swiss parents in Prague in 1900, died 1980 in Zurich. Studied at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich 1916-17 and then served an apprenticeship as a Stonemason in Lugano with Luigi Vassalli.  1921-23 and 1928-28, Master Class stays in Paris with studies at The Académie de la Grande Chaumiére.                                                                                                                                   Fischer's work exists in the Public Domain in Zurich and Geneva, testament to an accomplished presence at many important International Exhibitions.                                                                                   Animals such as Dogs and Bulls feature prominently in his work during the Midcentury period and this particular Sculpture exemplifies his incredible ability to merge classicism with cubism and abstraction. The evident rectangular panels on the flanks of this Bull are playfully Brutalist, whilst the overall texture and colour is exemplary. Foundry stamp to stand which measures: 57.5 cm x 28.
