An important Bureau plat, leather desk chair and matching Gueridon attributed to Andre Arbus. This suite of furniture is of outstanding quality and design with many characteristics attributable to the iconic French designer Andre Arbus (1903-1969). His combination of classic design, combined with a modern aesthetic, created timeless and iconic furniture and decoration. This elegant suite is in beautiful original condition with pleasant wear and colouration, commensurate with it's mid 1940s date, the best design era of his work. The mahogany veneers, brass mounts and inlay, along with crisp oak drawer linings and individual keys for the locks are all indicative of the quality associated with his furniture. For similar desks and design features, refer to the Andre Arbus book by Yvonne Brunhammer, in particular, pages 37,44 and 64.    Measurements of the Gueridon: 83cm diameter x 71cm tall.

Chair: 64cm wide x 65cm deep x 85cm tall. Seat height: 45cm
