An Outstanding C18th French Elm Refectory Table with Single Plank Top. This remarkable table was removed from a Convent in the east of France and has survived in extremely good condition for it's age. The 6cm thick top is in one single plank with the heavy square legs set into the top in the typical vernacular form of a double tenon. One tenon joint displays an ancient repair which is in itself a beautiful 'Wabisabi' detail. The whole scale and appearance is solid, simple and chunky with the most beautiful original colour and patina. At 72cm, the legs also retain good original dining height.
